Family Law De Facto Relationships

De Facto Relationships

New South Wales law provides for a de facto couple who separate to obtain a property settlement in a State Court.  The breakdown of a de facto relationship is different in law from the breakdown of a marriage relationship where the property settlement is dealt with by a Commonwealth or Federal Court (the Family Law Court or the Federal Magistrates Court).

There are a number of rules which govern a property settlement on the breakdown of a de facto relationship.  I can assist with explaining these rules to you.

I can also assist with advice if you are considering entering into a de facto relationship in order that you may have the knowledge to help protect your present and future assets.
